Friends! it's me! the woman behind the photography brand, Lexia Frank Photography! Also... the woman who does a million DIY projects on her 1,300 soft 1907 portland bungalow. I've been posting everything to my photography account, but these projects deserve their own space, and i want to honor that. It's time
This blog will be where i share all of my sources and resources with you!
My intention is to share with you these projects (which i feel are more like little creative art projects on a super large scale), but also share with you the hard stuff that goes along with it (the grime, the labor, the challenges). I want to acknowledge that part of being a professional photographer is that I use professional equipment to make things look really beautiful, which is a trick. smoke and mirrors baby. while this feed may look beautiful, I want to take a moment to say that this is only a sliver of the truth- that often there are messy rooms, kids are crying, i am overwhelmed, the house is a massive disaster (especially when we're working on a major project).... i'm currently breeding an entire colony of fruit flies in my kitchen sink because i'm working hard to get this account launched. 🤦♀️
Because i will post photos that look pretty, I am keenly aware that this account runs the risk of making others feel inadequate... instead of inspiring. it is a fine line, and also the reason that i haven't shared until now. I didn't want to be another instagram house account looking all perfect, when thats really not the reality. it just felt dishonest. it is my goal to fuel empowerment, inspiration, but also a solidarity amongst my fellow humans that life, house, parenting, working is a daily challenge, and we're all just trying to keep all the balls in the air (and mostly dropping them).
here is to posting with integrity. sharing inspiration (not inadequacy). creating a space to share resources with one another. and supporting one another in a season of life that can be challenging. i hope you'll stick around. 💕
